I think that current level should be kept for match play. It rewards those folks that spend the time leveling.

Also, this was posted in another thread, but reposting here to keep the league stuff in one place.

How will a league match affect ability limits?

I'd like to see league matches separate from regular daily limits so that we aren't limited during open play, but this may get a bit out of hand with some things and might need to be tweaked. To elaborate a little, I'd like to see the same limits, but a separate counter between regular open play and a league match.

No, like -baspecial, can only be used 3 times per day. I wanted to know if the 3/day is separate from using it during a league match.

I have a question concerning occupational use during League games:

For example, what happens if an ability like the Centurion's activated ability is used:

Special - by typing
-centurion for a limited time
and with a chance of failure,
a Centurion can halt all Rank
Points from being awarded
to all players.


Will this affect ALL players (players on both teams) or just the opposing team?

prolly gonna keep everything the same so that would affect both teams. Too hard to keep track of 2 different ways to do it.

Also, I think I'm gonna allow the capturing of Categories for the 1000 point bonus as well...of course that wouldn't include Points and not Bot (Wraith) either.

I'm gonna go through all the ways to gain rank points and lose them prolly tonight and if something doesn't work for League Play I will add it to the Rules, so please read rules often before the first match as they will be a work in progress.

I spent some time today pondering how Rankings would work in League Play (I'm fortunate to be able to ponder at my job). I was looking at the various mechanics set up and seeing if there would be any snares...after all, League Play with all players using all the features can be a whole new ball of wax compared to open play. So, here are some things I noticed:

Knight, Strategist may only be marginally useful while Duelist and Mechanic prolly not at all. The rest of the Occupations should be useful and provide quite a bit of strategy. I also considered, of the mainly useful Occupations for League, how stacking the Occupations would affect it. In my mind it looked pretty balanced, but I have had to make a few changes and the rules .txt file on the website has been updated. However, I am posting it here as well:

"About League Play

To participate in Theme Park League Play do the following:

*Register your team in the forums under the Sticky, "League Action (Team Sign-ups)
*Request a match in the forums under the Sticky, "League Action (Request a Match)
*Notify the admin (Coolant) of the scheduled day and time by email with the Subject Line reading LEAGUE PLAY (randymgames@yahoo.com).
I will close down and lock the server with the password match.
*Play the match, I will tally the Team and individual Rank Point scores by the log and post the results of the match on the League Play
page as well as update the Standings page.

Rules:

Each match is just 1 map of 15 minutes and follows all Ranking Point methods. All members of a Team must have an Occupation properly
showing in their Pilot Name. It is not required to use any Occupation inherent or Special Ability. Kills and regular points mean
nothing unless they relate to Rank Points. You cannot change Occupations once the map starts.
A tie goes to the attacker.
You may request a particular map if both Teams agree otherwise I will pick one.
The map may never be Battle Bowl (Power Point) Theme. A Team may host the game on their own server provided they use the appropriate Theme (Theme Park League) and all the associated files if you are familiar with running a dedicated server using the various files.
I don't have the time to help set up a server, so if you are unsure just ask for Theme Park.
Invitationals do not count for League Play.
-award is not valid in League Play.
Card games and mini-games are not valid in League Play.
Ranking Points earned or lost in a match do not count toward an individual's ranking.
You can leave and rejoin during a match. You can swap out mechs during a match. There is a penalty of 100 Rank Points for Rejoining as well as for Teamkills and Suicides (normal automated message, but 100%).
Each team may have duplicate mechs as well as Occupations.
Category Bonus (1000 pts) does counts except, of course, Bot and Points.
Speaker stacking is allowed.
If a Philanthropist loses levels due to a critical fumble, all Occupations used by that player are affected for that individual outside of the match.
Maximum bets are 500 (1000 is disabled).


Skunks:

A match will start on time with however many players are in the server at the time agreed by both teams - unless there is an agreement to wait. There is no ping test. A team that has shown up on time and ready to go is allowed to skunk the other team if it is not ready with no repercussions if the map has not started within 5 minutes of the agreed to time. If your team is ready please state so in chat when in lobby. I can see by the time stamp in the log whether a team is ready or not. If you want to skunk the other team simply type -coolant. I understand players' are donating their free time and respect it."

I did change Mechanic a bit so check it out, but it still won't be useful in League Play.

Lastly, some important info on Centurions. I know in the Special Ability section it states that for 30sec-1min no rank points can be earned, but in actuality what I'm really doing is completely deleting 30sec-1min of the log...I'm not reading it at all, just taking that chunk of log and hitting the delete key. Not sure if that would affect anything but that is actually what is happening when you get a successful -centurion. I will update that Occupation to state just that.

I've created a Theme Park League Theme for all matches. This theme has a LOT less chatter and also has some tweaked percentages for the different messages. I wanted to give them to everyone so you can better plan your strategy:

100% Rejoin -100 Rank Points
50% Suicide/Teamkill - 100 Rank Points
50% Suicide/Teamkill - Marked
20% Salvage Ops Go!
10% Kill/StreakKill/BA Tonnage Bonus
10% Head of Salvage Ops

You now must destroy the opponent you have bet upon within 1 minute not 2. More players are starting to bet now and getting cumbersome. This might change to 30 seconds if more and more players start betting.

Ranking Points earned or lost in a match do not count toward an individual's ranking.

So technically this means that if all the rank points lost/earned in League play are outside of our standard rankings. then we will not be able to place bets until we have earned some initial points first. As with a brand new Season, betting probably won't be viable until after our points/scores are posted for the first League game. Am I correct on this one?

Also, will our points in League play be posted as a group under our Team header, or will each player in the team have their own individual scores?
I'm asking this because I'm wondering if my team will have their own individual points to play with (to use for betting, for example), or would we draw from the same pool of points?

you have whatever points you currently have to bet.

you don't earn any points toward your individual ranking during a match.

Total of all points earned by all players on a team compared with the other team determines winner

Ok I get it; sorry for the confusion, lack of sleep this week...

So we can use our individual rank points for betting during the League matches, but wins/losses will only count for League Team points.
