from here: http://www.speedguide.net/articles/windows-2kxp-more-tweaks-158
This setting configures the maximum number of outstanding ACKs in Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
There will be multiple NIC interfaces listed there, for example: {1660430C-B14A-4AC2-8F83-B653E83E8297}. Find the correct one with your IP address listed. Under this {NIC-id} key, create a new DWORD value:
TcpAckFrequency=1
For gaming performance, recommended is 1 (disable).
Also, find the following key (if present):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters
Add a new DWORD value:
TCPNoDelay=1 _________________

Awesome, I'll test it out tomorrow. Thanks for the info. This lowered my download speed from 4mbps to 3mbps and my upload speed from 3mbps to 2mbps.. but if that will reduce game lag, it is a worthwhile tradeoff. I can't watch streaming HD video on this PC with a Geforce2 in it and I can just disable it if I'm downloading or uploading a huge file.
I am not afraid of Regedit. Some people might be.. but, eh.. you can always delete the values if it doesn't work for you. That is, Start menu, Run, type in Regedit.
Also, I might add that the folders you have in the Interfaces section of your registry.. look in the right side pane for the one with your IP. Oh, and the value doesn't enter as decimal.. although some sites might say to enter it as decimal. It will only enter as hexidecimal. Don't worry, though.. your computer will do it for you. Just double click on the Dword entry and type in 1.
Oh, and if you don't have MSMQ in your Windows installation, go to Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs, Add and Remove Windows Components and find and add Message Queuing. _________________ -----

Thx AnTi, yeah I forgot to include instructions on how to do it. You're right, if it doesn't work for you, you can just delete the values. Corsair did this on his system and it lowered his ping in my server from 156 to 117... _________________
